Capital Construction Management was hired in the early stages of schematic design as the overall program manager for the renovation of this historic structure involving many different community stakeholders. When CCM was brought on board, the project had stalled and scope creep had driven the project to almost $2 million over budget. Through a review of the original programming requirements and a number of team charrettes, CCM helped to refocus the project around a program and design that kept the project within its $7 million budget while meeting the group’s shared goals. The project was completed on schedule and will ensure that one of the busiest fire companies in the mid‐state is positioned to support the community for the next 50 years.
CCM worked with the stakeholders to secure a RACP grant for the project providing assistance with the application, working with legal counsel, ensuring compliance with the grant requirements and advising on how to obtain timely reimbursement of funds. The project also received funding through Dauphin County and Derry Township as well as a capital campaign.
